Volcano Eruption In Iceland
A volcano erupted in Iceland about a week ago named Eyjafjallajoekull ,which means island-mountain in the Icelandic language. It is located under a glacier of the same name. It is considered one of Iceland's smaller volcanoes, even though it turned out to be very powerful. The mountain had a great amount of ash, smoke, and steam thousands of feet into the air.The heat from the volcano also caused for part of the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier to melt, causing severe flooding. Hundreds of people who live in nearby towns were forced to evacuate because the eruption was so dangerous. The exploding mountain had not done anything for nearly 200 years which led people to believe that everything was safe. The last time it erupted was from December 1821 to January 1823.

A powerful volcanic eruption hit Iceland last week and it is still having an effect an other countries such as Hong Kong and Kenya. The volcano was so powerful that it blew winds that spread and exploded on the mountain to the skies across much of northern Europe, this created unsafe flying conditions, which does not allow people to travel anywhere. There are unsafe conditions in the skies, air traffic in the United Kingdom, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and other countries that are close by, these countries airlines had to be completely shut down for almost a week because it was so unsafe from all the dust and pollution in the skies. When the air traffic was stopped in Europe it had an effect in airports around the globe. Flights that were headed to the countries effected by this volcano eruption were also cancelled because it was too dangerous, this left millions of travelers stranded with nowhere to go. More than 95,000 flights have been canceled, costing multiple airlines millions of dollars. Businesses that depend on airplanes to ship their goods have also been affected. Kenya, a country in Africa, has a huge fresh vegetable, fruit, and flower industry. Businesses there export most of their goods to grocery stores throughout Europe. Since there no planes have been able to get into or out of European airports for more than a week, Kenya's fresh produce companies were unable to move their products. Most of the perishable items that need to be shipped quickly have been left to rot. The ashes in the air began to clear up on Monday, however, it will take many more days for airlines to deal with the ashes and pollution so flights remain canceled leaving travelers in the middle of nowhere. Some countries have begun to lift flight restrictions, even though the volcano in Iceland still continues to erupt, Is that even safe for airplanes to fly while the volcano is still erupting? Glass particles in volcanic ash can clog plane engines and cause them to shut down. This why flying through volcanic-ash clouds is very dangerous, still some countries are not listening to this and putting the lives of many people at risk. In Iceland people should have been more prepared because this eruption was so big that it was able to have most flight airlines shut. Countries that are close to volcanoes or any type of natural disaster should have a back-up plan in case anything like the Eyjafjallajoekull ever happens again. The safety of the people needs to be thought about because it is unfair for someone to have to risk their life because a country has no idea how keep their nation safe.

How is Facebook effecting People
I personally believe that Facebook has a tremendous effect on students. Most kids spend most of their time on Facebook and forget about their school work. Facebook is very distracting and addicting in my opinion. The use of Facebook can be dangerous for many young kids and their needs to be some sort of Internet safety, and a certain age for kids to get Facebook. Even though Facebook is a place for us as individuals to share our ideas and opinions it can also be very dangerous. Some kids add people that they do not even know on Facebook which is totally unsafe because they could be dangerous people. Most Facebook profiles are not even private which gives other people easy access to get your personal information. A lot of kids have a Facebook in middle school and I wonder what do they need a Facebook at such a young age? Facebook is another way for individuals to meet other people. Facebook makes it easier for people to start dating, I know people that are dating people on Facebook that they have never met, how is this safe in any way? I think that Facebook is a way that we allow society to see how we feel but also revealing all of our emotional and personal information which is not always the greatest thing.

I'm not saying that we should not have Facebook but we should send a lot less time on Facebook and worry more about their school work. People use Facebook as a way to get attention which is not always a bad thing but some young teens are so desparate for attention they are willing to do anything to get it such as putting up unappropriate pictures for everyone to see, where everyone can judge them. Even though Facebook was created for our entertainment it also brings a lot of problems and drama. A lot of girls have problems with one another mainly because of Facebook. Teenagers are more worried about Facebook then their actual lives and problems. If people were focused in school as much as they stay on Facebook we would have a lot more focused and smarter young kids. Facebook is seen everywhere it is always on the news, it is now on our phones and of course on the computer, there are so many ways for us to have access into Facebook. If people keep sending so much time on Facebook I think our society will be at risk in many ways. There should be a time limit on how long we can stay on Facebook that way we will not waste our whole day on it but we can do other things that we love to do and be much more focused on our school work.

Facebook is making us stupid?? You tell me !

Selena, a true inspiration

The film Selena shows the rise of Mexican- star Selena Quintanilla-Perez whose rise from rags to riches was met with hardships such as an overwhelming father, her love-struck relationship and the pressure from the Mexican community. Selena establishes herself self as a strong, confident and valiant women whose success was only growing. Selena's life however comes to an end when the head of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar, kills Selena after discovering Yolandas involvement in stealing money for Selena. The death of Selena shook the entire world as the world witness as shooting star crumble in front of their eyes because of the greed of one person.

The film Selena had an immediate impact on my outlook of life as it made me realize that we should cherish every moment of life and that materialistic things should not take us over. Yolanda was taken over by her greed and self desire for more money and it forced her to kill innocence, Selena. In this world i have experience that only the good feel the true pains of life and that despite these hardships we must pull through as life has many more difficulties ahead. The film also had an immediate impact on my trust with people. Yolanda was viewed by Selena as a very close friend and it was this very close friend who took Selena's life. Trust may take year to establish however it only takes seconds to crumble and the film Selena supports the statement. We trust those who hurt us and push those away those who care for us and in life we must not take anything for granted as no day is every guaranteed.

"Selena" has an unhappy ending to it. Selena touched and inspired a variety of people from all around the world. As her career progressed she took advantage of her fame and made a clothing line, in which she was very excited about. Selena wanted to put someone in charge with all of the finance and she chose a women named Yolanda. Yolanda backstabbed the family and was using Selena's money. When Selena found out about this she confronted Yolanda, and as a foolish women that Yolanda was she shot Selena, and Selena was announced dead at the hospital. Selena was truly an inspiration to many people especially young girls because she showed people that she could fight any challenge in her life. Though her death was a tragedy, she was a remarkable women that opened many doors for people and she will never be forgotten.
